Cuaa.net officially released the 2024 Alumni Association China University Rankings, in which SJQU ranked third among China's private universities (Category I—institutions with strengths in engineering disciplines).

Jan 18
The university held the 2023 Annual Summary & Recognition Conference and the New Year Celebration Gala.

Jan 26
A cadre meeting was held, announcing the decision of the Municipal Private University Party Working Committee: Comrade Yang Weiren was appointed as Party Secretary of SJQU, succeeding Comrade Jiang Yanqiao, who stepped down due to reaching the tenure age limit.

Mar 5
The Shanghai Municipal Education Commission announced the list of 2023 Shanghai Municipal First-Class Undergraduate Courses. Eight SJQU courses, including BIM and Engineering Project Management (Bilingual), were recognized, with the experimental teaching course Virtual Reality being approved for the first time. To date, SJQU has 19 municipal-level first-class undergraduate courses.

SJQU was again awarded the title of “Shanghai Safe and Civilized Campus” after a two-year process of self-evaluation, inspection, and spot checks.

Mar 18
SJQU’s case “Cultivating Character with the Lei Feng Spirit: Integrating Lei Feng Spirit into Ideological and Political Education Across Schools” was selected as a model case in the Shanghai Education and Health System’s Core Socialist Values initiative.
Additionally, in the 6th National Private University Party Building and Ideological-Political Work Awards, SJQU won the top prize for its case on integrity risk prevention and an excellence award for its ideological-political course innovation.

The university held a meeting to deploy the Party discipline study and education campaign.

The 2024 Security and Stability Work Conference was convened.

Apr 19–21
At the 6th Shanghai Young University Teachers Teaching Competition, three SJQU teachers won third prizes, and three received excellence awards.

Apr 24
The 17th Reading Festival opened with the theme “Make Reading a Habit, ‘Language’ a Better Self.”

Apr 28
Teacher Xiao Jing from the School of Education won first prize in the 4th Shanghai University Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition.

May 6
SJQU was named one of the first national “Lei Feng Spirit University Demonstration and Education Bases” (34 institutions nationwide).

May 7
A warning education conference on advancing full and rigorous Party governance was held.

May 8
The Second Session of the 4th Staff Representatives Congress and the 5th Trade Union Members Congress took place.

May 10–12
At the inaugural National College Student Career Planning Competition finals, a student from the Vocational and Technical College won a silver medal in the Growth Track (Vocational Group).

The 22nd University Sports Games were held.

May 18 – Jun 20
The School of Art and Design held the “I Love Lingang” 2024 Outstanding Graduation Design Exhibition.

May 27
The opening ceremony of the 13th “Lingang Cup” Basketball Tournament, part of the 4th Shanghai Citizens Games, was held at SJQU.

Jun 3
The SJQU men’s football team won the championship in the Shanghai University Football Alliance Cup. The head coach was named “Best Coach,” and a student was awarded “Best Player.”

Jun 3–4
The Japanese language major underwent a two-day on-site professional certification review by the Yangtze River Delta New Liberal Arts Education Certification Alliance.

Jun 16
SJQU hosted the 2024 Shanghai College Entrance Examination Volunteer填报现场咨询会, with nearly 100 universities from across China participating.

Jun 19
Wang Bangyong and Ding Zheyin were appointed as Presidents’ Assistants.

Jun 21
The Second Board of Directors held its second meeting, appointing Zhu Ruiting as President and approving the appointment of several Vice Presidents. The meeting also decided to establish three standing committees under the Board: Strategy, Budget, and Compensation.
The 2024 graduation ceremony was held, conferring degrees to nearly 7,000 undergraduates and 600 college program graduates.

The university established a “one-stop” student community to support youth development.

SJQU was awarded the “Shanghai Advanced Collective for Employment Promotion” by the Shanghai Municipal Government—one of only seven universities honored. It also received the “2024 High-Quality Employment Best Service University” award from China Education Online.

The 4th Congress of the Communist Party of China SJQU Committee was successfully held, electing 12 members to the Party Committee and 7 to the Discipline Inspection Commission.

Jun 29
The SJQU Guangdong Alumni Branch was established in Shenzhen.

Jun 30
SJQU students won 20 awards in the 16th National College Student Advertising Art Competition, including 2 first prizes, setting a new record.
The university also won 4 silver and 10 bronze medals in the 14th “Challenge Cup” Shanghai College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition.

Jul 12
The 2024 Junya Talent Program commenced.

Jul 17
Two courses were recognized as Shanghai Curriculum Ideological-Political Demonstration Courses, and two teaching teams were named municipal demonstration teams.

Jul 29
At the TI Cup Shanghai College Student Electronic Design Competition, SJQU teams won 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, and 4 third prizes.

Aug 16–18
SJQU hosted the 2024 Chinese-Japanese Contrastive Linguistics Seminar, with 166 experts and scholars from Japan, South Korea, and over 100 Chinese institutions attending.

Sep 3
SJQU won six awards in the 4th “Zhihuishu Cup” National Curriculum Ideological-Political Teaching Case Competition, including the Best Organization Award.

The university held a conference to advance industry-education integration, launching seven pilot projects.

Sep 6–8
Over 7,100 freshmen of the Class of 2024 registered.

Sep 12
In the 2024 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (Shanghai Division), SJQU won 6 gold, 11 silver, and 29 bronze medals, achieving record highs in both quantity and quality.

The 2024 freshman opening ceremony and military training summary were held.

At the Shanghai Student Sunshine Sports League Dance Sport Competition, SJQU students won 1 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

The SJQU counselor team won the group second prize in the 11th Shanghai University Counselor Team Expansion Activity.
At the 2024 Shanghai Student Games (University Group), SJQU students won multiple medals in taekwondo and athletics, placing third overall in taekwondo.

SJQU hosted the 2024 International Forum on Health Management and Elderly Care Service Industry Innovation.

Nov 11
The 2023–2024 Student Awards Ceremony and the 4th “Study Style Festival” opening were held.

Nov 14
SJQU students won 3 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals at the 28th National College Student Fencing Championships.

Nov 16
Two teachers from the School of Education won first prizes in the 6th Yangtze River Delta Normal University Teacher Smart Teaching Competition.
The SJQU Japan Alumni Branch was established at the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics.

Teacher Li Zhengxiao from the School of Mechatronics won first prize in the 1st Shanghai University Engineering Training Teaching Ability Competition.

SJQU successfully passed the acceptance review as a “National Party Building Demonstration University” cultivation unit.

Student Li Shuotian from the School of Information Technology received the 2024 Baosteel Outstanding Student Award.

Dec 12–15
SJQU organized a special training program for Shanghai private universities on implementing the spirit of the National Education Conference.
