Shanghai Jian Qiao University held the Seminar of Hierarchical Teaching Methods

    SJQU held the seminar of hierarchical teaching on 29 June, organized by college of Foreign Languages. This sminar is aimed at carrying out “the Excellent Scheme of Jian Qiao University” and implementing the 13th Five-Year Plan whilst constantly improving the mode of college English teaching and enhancing teaching level. School leaders represented by President Pan Yingjie of SJQU, director of English Department in Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences Gu Dinglan, director of English Department in Shanghai Ocean University Huang Pei, directors of English Department in Shanghai Shanda University Wei Yunwei, Zhang Hongmin, Xie Yuzhen and manager of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press Xu Jun attended this meeting.

   President Pan Yingjie in SJQU put forward the basic direction of future teaching reform in view of the current situation and the trend of how the English teaching methods should develop. Also he emphasized that we were supposed to narrow the gap between other universities and make up for it. Only in this way can the mode of English teaching play in the side of broadening the international perspectives of students and improving their ability to learn English.

    The directors of attended university shared their valuable experiences in the progress of the college English stratification teaching in their respective universities. Director Li Lei of SJQU briefly introduced the overall positioning, thoughts of reform and plan of the college English stratification teaching pilots for the next semester of the Class of 2017. Later, Associate professor Wang Haiyan of College of Foreign Languages made detailed analysis and guidance.

    Professor Lu Le raised the responsibility and commitment that New Age’s teachers should shoulder and finally gave a summary talk. The seminar also set up a panel discussion, teachers of English Department put forward a lot of constructive suggestions for the hierarchical teaching to be carried out next semester.
